Food Waste Composting at Goshen College: 3 Years of Success

Support for sustainable initiatives such as composting were definitely gaining ground at GC, but the greatest impetus for a compost
project at Goshen College was the introduction of AVI Fresh as the institution's new food provider.
AVI placed Bob Rombach, resident director, at GC for his vision and dedication to sustainability. Before a composting program was even implemented,
a composting collection system was included in the AVI cafeteria remodel. “Build it and they will come; don’t build it and they will have nowhere to go,”
Rombach explained. Rombach has been one of the most enthusiastic team members of the compost initiative, working with student volunteers and his own
staff to solve challenges that have arisen on his turf.
